The Chubbies brand has become wildly popular in the world of online men’s apparel since its inception in 2011. So, I’ve decided to do a Chubbies review in order to look at what they’ve been doing right and how these principles can apply to other markets. In this video, I walk you through a brand audit because I think that for us to see how to build a brand, we have to take a case or a model of what has already worked.

One of the biggest strengths that Chubbies has is the fact that the creators really lived their brand. They were all college students who loved going out on the weekend, and their products have always embodied this lifestyle.

Another thing the Chubbies brand did right is start with a narrow niche market. Like I said, these guys were all about going out on the weekend, and their products reflected that kind of lifestyle. At the time of this Chubbies review, the company has greatly expanded its lines of products; however, starting small was key because it allowed them to really build a community.

Third, they knew exactly who their target market was. The models they use, the images, and their slogan all speak to people who love having fun on the weekend.

The Chubbies brand serves as an excellent case study, especially if you’re just starting out. Hopefully you can take the lessons from this Chubbies review and brand audit, and incorporate them into your own brand!
