In Disney Dreamlight Valley, players frequently encounter lighthearted disagreements between classic characters that lead to engaging quests. One notable example is A Fishy Dispute, a friendship quest involving Donald Duck and Goofy regarding the natural habitat of catfish. Resolving this comical argument requires players to put on specific attire, head to the beach, and recover hidden time capsules across the valley.
Starting the Quest and Dressing the Part
To begin A Fishy Dispute, speak with Donald Duck after reaching Friendship Level 4 with him. He explains that he got into a heated argument with Goofy over whether catfish live in the ocean or in freshwater lakes. Donald insists catfish are ocean fish and hands you Green Fishing Waders, which you must equip from your inventory wardrobe before continuing the investigation.
Catching Ocean Fish on Dazzle Beach
Once you are properly dressed, head down to Dazzle Beach to collect evidence for Donald. You need to catch ten fish from the ocean, regardless of their species or ripple color, as long as they come from salt water. After completing this task, report back to Donald, who remains convinced that a catfish must be hiding somewhere along the shoreline.
Follow Donald as he leads you to a designated golden fishing spot right near Goofy's Stall. Cast your line into the golden ripples to pull up a special item instead of a fish. Instead of catching a catfish, you will retrieve a mysterious Time Capsule from the water.
Investigating Donald's Memory and Sunlit Plateau
Open your inventory and interact with the Time Capsule to inspect the hidden memory piece inside. The revealed image points toward a buried secret near giant bone structures located in the Sunlit Plateau. Fast travel to the Sunlit Plateau well and walk toward the large ribcage bones nearby.
Locate the dirt mound right beside the bones and unearth it to proceed. Inside, you will discover another Time Capsule that holds deeper clues about the valley's history. Hand this second capsule over to Donald to finish searching the area.
Concluding the Dispute
Upon receiving the second capsule, Donald realizes he needs Merlin's assistance to unlock its contents. He also reluctantly admits that Goofy was correct about catfish habitats after all. Completing this quest earns you friendship points with Donald and opens up his next storyline chapter, titled The Forgotten Project.
